How to chelate with the Andy Cutler protocol
Or: how to do frequent low dose chelation

You can start DMPS or DMSA four days after your last exposure to heavy metals. In most cases this means four days after you get your last amalgam removed.

Start with 12.5 mg (or thereabouts) of one of these chelators.
You take DMSA every four hours.  The minimum “round” is three full days and two full nights.  The rest of the week is used to recover.
or
You take DMPS every 6 or 8 hours.  The rounds are the same.

You can do longer “rounds” but never shorter.  Be sure to take that minimum 4 day break to recover.

If your symptoms are not too unpleasant, stay at 12.5 mg.
If they are really awful cut back the dose the next round.
If you don’t feel anything at all increase your dose by around 50%.
If after several rounds you feel you can increase the dose, do so by no more than 50%.
If you miss a dose by more than an hour, stop the “round” and start over at the same time next week.

After three months you can start Alpha Lipoic Acid.  If you had your teeth done ages ago, you can start the ALA right off.
You can take ALA with DMSA or with DMPS or by itself.
You start at 12.5 mg and take it every three hours.  Otherwise the “rounds” are the same.
If you are taking it with the other chelators you must adjust their schedule to the ALA.  For instance take the DMSA every three hours rather than four and take the DMPS every second dose of ALA.

To make your life easier, you can take the ALA every 4 hours at night.

If your symptoms are not too unpleasant, stay at 12.5 mg.
If they are really awful cut back the dose the next round.
If you don’t feel anything at all increase your dose by around 50%..  If you are brave you can double up the dose every round until you feel something.
If after several rounds you feel you can increase the dose, do so by no more than 50%.  If you are taking two chelators at once, only increase one at a time.
If you miss a dose by more than an hour, stop the “round” and start over at the same time next week.

LIST OF DON’TS
Don’t take chelators off their half-life schedule, which is 3 hours for ALA, four hours for DMSA and 8 hours for DMPS.  (You can take them more frequently but not less.  For instance you can take ALA every two hours, or DMPS every six.)

Don't think you can get away with no nighttime dose.  You can't.  You will make yourself worse.
Don’t do short “rounds.”  The minimum round is three days and two nights.
Don’t do any IVs of chelators ever.
Don’t use cilantro.
Don’t use chlorella.
